Directors' Corner
Camp is fun for campers and families, but we spend the whole year preparing and taking it very seriously. Our directors and staff travel to conferences all over the country to network with other camp professionals and learn more about how to make camp better. Here in the Director's Corner, we want to share some things you will find interesting.

Choosing a Licensed Program
Questions to ask a camp about :
- Are you licensed? Why, or why not?
- What are the qualifications of your staff? In a licensed center, staff qualifications are documented.
- How are medications administered and stored? Who gives them out?
In a licensed center, at least one individual has to be medically trained and delegated by a nurse in order to give out medications. Other details about medications:
- Medications must be stored at camp in a locked area that is inaccessible to campers.
- They must be in their original bottles.
- Over the counter pills, ointments, etc. cannot be administered at licensed facilities without doctor’s orders.
- Homeopathic remedies cannot be administered at camps that are licensed.
